After graduation from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois, Paul started his career in 1971 as an illustrator and graphic designer. Over the past 40 years, Paul's art has proved to be more than competitive in the professional art industry. Over time, his passion has evolved to drawing a variety of animals, from exotic to domestic and he has been widely commissioned for not only his amazing illustrations of wild animals but also endearing pet portraits.
Scratchboard Art
Scratchboard is a chalk-layered board with a thin coat of ink applied to the smooth surface. The artist takes a series of needles and removes the ink in a subtractive method. Color is then added with fluorescent chalks and inks to archive a natural look.
The art of scratchboard dates back to the 19th Century and was used in advertising products prior to photography
Giclee Originals
Giclee is a French term "to spray". Giclees are produced by spraying 12 colors in a continuous tone fashion, to maximize the color spectrum. There are no dots as with the conventional printing process. The paper or canvas is museum grade, archival paper, chosen for its colorfast properties and minimal carbon footprint.
